Irish Ruggerfest 2022 @ Father Ryan HS (9/10/2022 & 9/11/2022)

KYR traveled to Father Ryan High School on 9/10/2022 & 9/11/2022 to compete in the Irish Ruggerfest 7’s tournament.

KYR Boys began their day on 9/10 with a tough match against Moeller RFC, ending in a draw. The HS Boys then took on Atlanta Youth Rugby, playing physical but ultimately falling to AYR. The day ended with a forfeit from Middle Tennessee Warriors, and a JV game comprised of a motley crew of players from multiple teams in attendance resulting in good minutes and experience for many younger players.

KYR Boys began 9/11 with a decisive win against Father Ryan, with Andrew Celeste scoring four tries. The second game saw the KYR Boys draw against a skilled Raptors Red team. The final game saw the KYR Boys JV team falling short against Raptors JV, again giving younger players more time on the pitch in a great development opportunity.

KYR Girls had a great weekend of rugby in Nashville, teaming up with ICRON to compete in Irish Ruggerfest. The Girls went 1-2-2 on the day against some tough competition, playing some tough and physical rugby in rainy conditions. Sarah Jones moved to scrum-half where she put every opposing scrum-half under pressure, Shay Moore was a strong running with several breakaway tries, and Kayleigh Sexton had several strong runs and chased down a number of players.

It was a great weekend of rugby and we look forward to Middle Tennessee 7’s in Hendersonville, TN on 9/24/2022.
